Van Den Eynde Expo Groundbait

Van Den Eynde Expo Groundbait - £2.95

Southern match star Dickie Carr gives his verdict on his favourite tench groundbait

Expo has been my favourite grounbait for tench for more than a decade. It all started in the early days of Willow Park. Thiswas- and still is- a venue dominated by large shoals of tench and to a lesser extent- crucian carp.

The method was to use fairly large quantities of groundbait- feeding small firm balls very regularly. The first time I visited Willow- the locals told me that red groundbait was definitely best. With this in mind- I decided that I would try Expo and really could not believe how good it was for tench.

Expo is a sweet grounbait that is easy to mix to a firm texture and will go down to the bottom with one good squeeze. It contains a lot of molasses which gives it it's sweet aroma and I would certainly recommend taking a bag of Expo if you are going tench fishing.

IDEAL USES Stillwater fisheries of reasonable depth- i.e. 6ft or more- with a good head of bream- carp and tench. It's bright crimson colour is attractive to all these species. Expo works very well used by itself and is a particularly good mix for days when there's a need to put plenty of groundbait and loose offerings into the water. It's a well proven groundbait with a consistancy which allows it to introduced by hand or through a feeder.

PROVEN RECIPE SUGGESTIONS
1. For shallow still waters: 1 part Expo- 1 part Special- with 2 parts Vijer. The Special and Vijer lightens the mix and gives a cloud effect.

2. For deeper stillwaters: 2 parts Expo- 1 part Secret. Thse two are very similar in texture and mix together well. For deeper waters where the bait needs to get to the bottom befor breaking up.

3. For rivers: 2 parts Expo- 1 part Natuur. Works well for feeder work on rivers. To introduce by hand in balls then use 2parts Expo- 1 part Turbo+. Whre big bream are present Brasem or Vanille can be added to enhance all these mixes.

4. For eels and catfish: 1 part Expo- 1 part Bloedmeal. This is a mix recommended for use when scavenger species are the target.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1. For best results- place groundbait and additives in a round mixing bowl.

2. Blend the dry ingredients thoroughly befor adding water.

3. Add water slowly whilst vigorously stirring the mix together. This procedure is made easier with a sponge- which allows even distribution of water.

4. The use of a round groundbait bowl means there are no corners to trap and leave dry groundbait.

5. When the mix begins to appear adequately dampened set it aside for 5-10 minutes.

6. You should find after 10 minutes the mix will require a little more water before it's ready for use.

7. If you are using damp leam add it to the mixture now- and not earlier.

Van Den Eynde Gold Pro Bream Groundbait

Van Den Eynde Gold Pro Bream Groundbait - £2.95

Without doubt Europe's foremost authority on groundbait mixes and additives. Marcel Van den Eynde has fished 25 World Championships for Belgium and has been individual World Champion- as well as helping his country win the Gold Medal twice. In Belgium and Holland- Match anglers must catch bream to win. Many years ago- Marcel discovered the key to attracting and catching more than his share of bream- for over thirty years he has been winning matches with it!!! The exact mix Marcel uses for all his bream fishing is now available to you…. Gold-Pro for Bream.

Gold Pro Bream forms a major part of Steve Canty's groundbait mix for many venues.

I've been using Van den Eynde Gold Pro Bream for a couple of years now and it forms part of the mix I use for many venues both in this country and abroad.

I'm not one for loads of different groundbaits. I prefer to find a mix I like and stick with it whenever I can- and Gold Pro Bream forms a large proportion of the groundbait mix I use on most rivers and lakes.

It's one of the more aromatic of the Van den Eynde range with a sweet smell reminiscent of Brasem additive. I sometimes use it by itself in a feeder for bream because it forms a fluffy mix which clings to a feeder well but explodes out on the bottom.

Often I'll mix it with Brown Crumb and Van den Eynde Secret for a stiffer mix if I want to ball it for the pole line. It catches roach as well!

IDEAL USES
For any water where there are bream- ( big or small ) Gold-Pro will be the perfect base mix. The medium texture of Gold-Pro is rich in those ingredients Marcel knows are proven to attract and hold shoals of feeding bream. This sweet smelling fluffy mix can be used on rivers- canals or stillwater. Although it already contains Marcel's secret brasem ingredient- more can be added if you wish to create an extremely sweet mix.

PROVEN RECIPE SUGGESTIONS
1. 1 bag of Gold-Pro- 1 bag of Supercup or Special. This mix will prove perfect for anglers wishing to create a large cloud effect in either mid-water when introduced by hand- or on the bottom when fed through a swimfeeder.

2. 1 bag of Gold-Pro and 1 bag of Superlake ( or Expo if a reddish mix is preferred ) This is a mix which will carry large quantities of loose feed such as casters and squats which need to be fired out some distance and be delivered to the bottom before the balls disperse to create a carpet of food.

3. A heavy mix for deep and powerful moving water. 1 bag Gold-Pro and 1 bag of Secret or Turbo.Bream are often found in deep holes on powerful rivers- and large- wind affected lakes. To get feed down through strong currents and amongst the bottom hugging bream- you need a heavy mix- this is one you can rely on to do the job.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the dry groundbait into a mixing bowl and blend befor adding water.

2. Add water slowly whilst vigorously stirring the mix together. Break up any lumps which develop by rubbing them between your palms.

3. When you feel the mixture is damp enough- set it aside for 5-10 minutes to allow the moisture to be fully absorbed.

4. You will find before use a little more water may be added to the mix.

5. Finally- run the mixture through a maggot riddle to obtain an even texture which will work as intended once introduced into your swim.

Van Den Eynde High Pro Carp Groundbait

Van Den Eynde High Pro Carp Groundbait - £2.95

The worlds foremost authority on groundbait- Marcel Van den Eynde and double World Champion Bob Nudd combined their wealth of knowledge to formulate this winning groundbait mix. For catching big fish in match conditions- Bob has no equal and Hi Pro Specimen is the groundbait mix he uses to attack prolific waters with such success.

IDEAL USES
A protein rich mix formulated for use on prolific carp fisheries- or any water holding large stocks of specimens such as tench- chub and bream. Included in this groundbait are particles of flake large enough to attract and hold bigger fish. This groundbait is perfect for use when a positive approach is being taken to catch big fish by match anglers and specimen hunters alike.

PROVEN RECIPE SUGGESTIONS
1. 1 bag Hi-Pro Specimen- 1 bag Grilled Hemp. This mix will bind well for use at long range using high powered catapults- or throwing sticks- it can be used to concentrate large particle baits such as boilies- sweetcorn or cubes of luncheon meat.

2. 1 bag Hi-Pro Specimen- with an equal amount of either white crumb or brown crumb. For use in shallow lakes when fishing floating baits such as bread crusts- biscuits or casters/maggots- but prepare some time before starting to fish in order for it to be most effective.

3. 1 bag Hi-Pro Specimen and an equal amount of rough white crumb and 1 large white loaf mashed together into loose- well soaked mix which breaks up almost on impact. (For water over 6ft deep- stiffen the mix with crumb). This method when fished on running water for chub- big roach and bream with bread flake on the hook can produce spectacular results.

5. This groundbait is sometimes more effective if it is mixed a few minutes before you need to use it.

Van Den Eynde Secret Groundbait

Van Den Eynde Secret Groundbait - £2.95

Secret is a very heavy groundbait and its ingredients are quite sweet smelling. Mix it carefully because it becomes very sticky- adding water a little at a time and riddling afterwards. Get it right and you'll achieve a groundbait which is perfectly suited for a balling-in approach.

The big advantage of using Secret is that it will break down very slowly once it has reached the bottom. This coupled with its fairly high food content- means it will hold fish in your swim for a long time without the need to top up.

The best time to use Secret is when you need a lot of bait on the bottom and you don't want to feed again for a long time after your initial balls have gone in. I'll use it when I'm expecting big catches or large numbers of fish. Once the groundbait's gone in- I can concentrate o fishing rather than feeding every few minutes.

IDEAL USES
The most adaptable and all round product in the Van Den Eynde Range. Secret can be put to use in many varied conditions- even by itself it's a mix which works effectively in a swimfeeder or when fed by hand. By adding other Van Den Eynde products either heavier or lighter- almost every type of fishing situation in the UK can be mastered. Marcel himself uses Secret as a base ingredient in nearly all his own recipes.

PROVEN RECIPE SUGGESTIONS
1. 1 part Secret. 1 part Special. This combination is the one Marcel most often uses for venues between 6 & 8ft deep in still or slow moving waters holding a mixed species of fish.

2. 1 part Secret. 1 part Supercup. ½ Vanille or Brasem. A well proven mix for bream of all sizes. Feed by hand on stillwaters or feeder in flowing water.

3. 1 part Secret. 1 Kastaar. A favourite on the continent for bottom feeding fish in flowing water. Good for barbel- bream and carp. Substitute Natuur for Kastaar where chub and roach predominate.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1. For best results- place groundbait and additives in a round mixing bowl.

2. Blend the dry ingredients thoroughly before adding water.

Van Den Eynde Supercup Groundbait

Van Den Eynde Supercup Groundbait - £2.95

Essex County skipper Kim Milsom on his favourite groundbait for roach:

While Supercup is my favourite groundbait for roach- other species love it as well- escecially skimmers- perch and tench.

I always use it in two main ways. Mixing it on the dry side and squeezing it hard before throwing or cupping it in makes it get down to the bottom fairly quickly before breaking up almost immediately. This is best in up to 10 feet of water- particularly if the bottom is sloping as a sticky- heavy ball of groundbait would be in danger of rolling away.

By squeezing the same mix just enough to hold it together- it becomes an excellent slow-sinking cloud groundbait which will attract fish into the swim from a long way off.

To make a longer lasting cloud- use 50/50 mix of Supercup and Van den Eynde Special. Add PV1 Collant in deep swims on running water.

IDEAL USES
A fairly lightweight mix which is a ideal canal or small lake groundbait- giving a good cloud effect- particularly when mixed sloppy for fishing on the drop. It has a strong sweet aroma- which is appealing to both bream and carp- so it can also be used effectively with the swimfeeder on lakes or slow moving rivers. It mixes well with all other Van Den Eynde groundbaits.

PROVEN RECIPE SUGGESTIONS
1. 1 part Supercup- 1 part Special. This is the ultimate summer time canal mix for maximum cloud effect when fishing squats and pinkies.

2. 1 Supercup- 1Secret- ½ Vanille. An excellent all round groundbait for bream- carp and tench fisheries.

3. 1 Supercup- ½ Brasem. A brilliant attractor of skimmers on stillwaters and slow shallow rivers.

MIXING INSTRUCTIONS
1. For best results- place groundbait and additives in a round mixing bowl.

2. Blend the dry ingredients thoroughly before adding water.

Van Den Eynde SuperMatch Groundbait

Van Den Eynde SuperMatch Groundbait - £2.95

Canal ace Mark Pollard rates Supermatch as his favourite shallow water groundbait:

Van den Eynde Supermatch always forms the base of my canal groundbait. I love it because it's fine- dark and doesn't fill the fish up while producing a cloud from the bottom or the surface depending on how it's mixed.

I'll use it on its own in clear water although on canals affected by boat traffic I will add smaller portions of Van den Eynde Crushed Hemp- Supercup and Pigeon. These three help the mix to bind a bit as well as drawing fish back to the swim once a boat has passed. The proportions are: one bag Supermatch- half a bag Crushed Hemp- a quarter bag Supercup and quarter bag Pigeon Sh*t.

After this you may need to add a little more water to achieve the perfect texture. Once your happy- shake it through a maggot riddle and it's ready. This mix is at its best in depths between 18 inches and 5 feet.

Used on its own- Super Match will provide brilliant results and it can also be mixed with other Van Den Eynde products to tackle more specific water conditions.

MIXING SUGGESTIONS
To get even more from your groundbait- Marcel and triple world champion Bob Nudd suggest the following: Light Mix: 50/50 mix of Super Match and Special. Medium Mix: 50/50 mix of Super Match and Supercup or World Champion. Heavy Mix: 50/50 mix of Super Match and Beet or Turbo+.

5. In some circumstances this groundbait is more effective when mixed well in advance of its required use time.
